Francisco Hinojosa was born in Mexico City in 1954. He published his
first short story collection Informe negro, (Black Report) in 1987. The book attracted wide critical acclaim
which was endorsed by Memorias segadas de un hombre en el fondo
bueno y otros cuentos (Memories
of a Basically Good Man & Other Tales) (1995), Cuentos héticos (Hectic Tales) (1996) and two travel
accounts: Un taxi en L.A. (1995)
and Mexican
Chicago (1999). Hinojosa is also the author of Tres
poemas (Three Poems) (1998)
and nearly twenty children’s books. He is the most widely read children’s
author in Mexico.
