As a lecturer and researcher at the Centre for Literary Studies, part of
the National University, Guillermo
Sheridan (1950) has published many works and studies, among the most well
known are: Los Contemporáneos ayer (Yesterday’s Contemporaries) (1985), México en 1932: la polémica nacionalista
(Mexico in 1932: The Nationalist Problem) (1999) and Un corazón adicto: la vida de Ramón López
Velarde (An addicted heart: The life
of Ramón López Velarde) (1989) which won him the Xavier Villaurrutia Prize.
Some of his articles were collected in Frontera
norte (Northern Border) (1986) and Cartas
de Copilco (Letters from Copilco)
(1994). His first novel, El dedo de oro
(The Golden Finger) (1996), received enthusiastic praise from critics and
readers alike.
