Adrián is a very peculiar adolescent due partly to his autism but also to the fact that he was born the seventh child. In the hills, legend has it that the seventh son turns into a werewolf. On top of this, the strange attacks that he suffers on some nights make him greatly misunderstood to everyone but a few of his family members. This is the reason why he has left his home town and has come to live with his brother Zenón, Zenón’s girlfriend and his dog Compañero. While they wander about Spain in a van and try to make a living taking on jobs that are borderline legal, Adrián will try to find his place in an adult world and will be initiated in love and sex. His main obsession will be a black dog that will help him to reconstruct –and perhaps settle– his terrible childhood experiences marked by the confused and violent personality of his father, Zacarías Zárate.

The novel is an adolescent’s raw and hypnotic tale of survival that leaves the reader with powerful images that are difficult to forget.
