Malvinas, June 1982. A group of Argentine soldiers that is being held prisoner behaves in a very oddly manner and, in a fight, ends up killing one of their officers. Buenos Aires, 1976. A Montonero group experiences the ferocity of repression first hand and, on the verge of being wiped out, they break loose from the organization. However, true to their dead comrades and their ideals, the squad reconvenes to face the Argentine military dictatorship and will start a hilarious and tragic enterprise that will take them, at the best pace of a road movie, from Mendoza to Patagonia. In an ironic and critical parody, taking Melville’s footsteps, Federico Lorenz brings together the two most violent experiences of the 70’s and 80’s in Argentina. Delving into the history and obsessions of the Argentines, Montoneros o la ballena blanca is a remarkable recreation of the atmosphere of that time.
